I swear this project is jinxed. honestly.
not happy. stuck in bed with foot up in air so ankle stops being the size of a house stump & knee realigns. Noone home, want coffee. Have to use stupid crutches to make coffee, why don't they have coffeeholders inbuilt [An iPod holder would be good too]
so I can carry it back to bed, so noone knows I got out of bed in the first place and lectures me.
Cat gives me disapproving look too. Nice.
Camera has gone off on a holiday without me, hope it sends back photos. So while stuck in bed doing nothing am still working on more stuff but bored. Only so many reruns to watch.
Don't tell anyone I was up and on my laptop posting ;D, it will be our little secret until youngest daughter sneaks over to read my blog LOL

oh dear...
It's a good thing I have never publically claimed to have high intelligence :D
Did you know that when you get the comments on your blog by email that it's not the person's actual email address? sigh.
I have been replying to everyone's comments but for some reason have replied by email and only realised that it does not go to the person I thought I was replying too. How embarassment!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are some teasers : I took them on my phone and so the quality is absolutely dreadful but here are some things that may or may not be related to some posts in the very near future :D like from next Monday...
Yes, the horse is a happy chappy :D I have no idea why he decided to smile but I liked it.
My photographer started Uni, so is too busy to take proper photo's until later this week so these will have to do for now.
I've also gessoed 18 boards [ about 6x2"] & some canvases ready to get plastered and backgrounded and screwed the chains into them, which killed my fingers but their done! I have whole series that I've been plodding away on and ready to go. I've also started on the artwork for the Art Award, which has to be in by the 17 March, can't show a pic of that yet. One art doll is done but she's going to someone already :D and I forgot to take a pic before I wrapped her up :( but have one that is similiar that I've started so will take pics of that one. LOL
Apart from that, I've been kind of wandering along, not stressing as I'm going pretty well healthwise except for the ankle bits, so everything stored on top of bookshelves has to either wait till the youngest [ who is also the tallest LOL] is home from school or is already at my level so I don't get up on tippytoes *grinz* I was offered a stepladder but declined cos to be honest, I'd fall off for sure!
Plus I have been steadily working away on the wedding stuff, none of which I am allowed to show anyone yet :( <---- that's really a pout LOL
Adios Amigos, until tomorrow! :D I'm off to get some zzzzzz's

oh dear! a disaster is in progress...
Sorry, created a new logo and then redesigned my twitter page, which meant I had to redesign my blog and site all on the same day, so weird things may happen :D
I do have a really good reason though!

random tilt at full speed!
sorry, been busy. kidlet's end of year exhibition and other busyness have been going on. I feel like Alice down the rabbit hole, except I didn't quite make it and got stuck upside down with my legs waving wildly in the air.
There is nothing worse than almost finishing an A3 artwork and stuffing it up. that you can't fix lololololol arrggghhhhh... so, ahem, I started a new one and am thinking of cutting out the best bits of the first one then gluing & sandpapering them into the new one. The weather swing [good time for gilding!] caught me out & the paint went off :( should have thought about it, but, hey I've been upside in a rabbit hole, what else do you expect? trial and error is a good thing, except when you're working to a deadline...
anyway, I am about to be throttled back to dial up speed [ smacks youngest daughter upside the head :D] so will be back when I am back to normal speed.

In the studio...
So, have made new batches of gum ammoniac, pounce and gesso. Did you know that cuttlefish bones REALLY stink if you get too close when grinding it up? Ewwwww.
Today I have been gilding and now just have to wait out the drying time. I've been doing initials and smaller stuff rather than full on illuminations. Making Christmas cards to send out, want one? I'm making them with gouache, 24ct gold and Arches HP Satine. Email me name and postal address. I swear I don't have enough energy to stalk you, if you're worried. Oh, and don't wait until later, cos you'll probably get an Easter card instead! hehehehe.
I took Ann's advice and decided not to keep shoving furniture & stuff in the studio around as I am still feeling less energetic than usual. Hopefully the ants in the pants will return soon and I'll be happy. I have been walking for 30 mins but then have to have a nanny nap to recover.
Hubby went away for 2 weeks to the tropics, so I'm a tad jealous. He is working though, so I'm not that jealous LOL
We finally bought a new dishwasher as the one I had is 19 and only works erratically [the youngest daughter] so I sucked it up and spent the money. It was on sale though, $495 for a Dishlex is cheap!
Well, must twaddle off and start dinner.

Necklace
Sorry 'bout the shoe box background! It's incredibly hard to find something to hang a necklace on and take photo's of it. My official photographer [hubby] is in bed and I can't take photo's to save my life [ as you can tell LOL] but you can at least get the gist of what I have been doing.
This one is for Daughter No 2. I was going to toss it as I didn't like the pattern but she loves it, so I turned it into this. It's pink. Yes. Not really me but anyway!
So, worked out ok. I am in the process of making more now that I have worked out how to finish them off. Buttons are cooking now, so should have pics tomorrow sometime. I have a lot of designs I've drawn, now I need to turn them into something wearable. I'm also planning on gilding in the morning and have been making gesso as well as charcoal to make new ink as it all had to be left behind :-(
Fun. The neighbours probably think I'm brewing something illegal ROFL
Yes, Rob, I know, I forgot. Will take a pic tomorrow sometime and put it up, I promise! It's not *that* interesting though!

Don't forget your dustmask and hardhat...
There may be some disruption for the next few days as I move files, change graphics and generally play with the design. This is a site wide change, not just the blog. Sooo, if anything looks like you've drunk too much vodka, give me a yell *g* Thank you very much!

Work in progress - just for fun!
Drawn and Inked so far, and working on the base colours. I'm using Spicers Parchmentine paper, which is similiar to vellum but a lot thinner and so buckles easily if you use too much water or paint. I use watercolour pencils as a base before gouache. I'm using gold and paladium gilding for the metal pieces.
Based on a line drawing from Homers Iliad by John Flaxman in 1805.
WIP1 for 2007 [this one is just for fun and so I can de-stress. Cheaper than medication!]

Here is my latest finished piece. It's the Hippocratic Oath in Latin with an illumination based on a 15C woodcut Anatomy Lecture by Joannes de Ketham & painted in the style at the time. The latin on the image side says, First Do No Harm.
It's done on Parchmentine with gouache & watercolour with 24ct gold leafing.
He loved it.
